Lena & The Floating Roots Orchestra

Mathias Delplanque (born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso) is a musician, artist and music critic. As a composer he takes on several main lines, creates sound installations and concrete or ambient pieces and develops through different identities among them Lena: Lost-Wax contemporary dub forms at the fringes of jazz with his Floating Roots Orchestra featuring vocalists Black Sifichi, Daniel Givens, Alice Lewis, Neil Carlill & Julien Jacob. Les généreuses introspections rythmiques à l'honneur dans l'esthétique du label dépeignent un univers complexe, celui d'une grammaire radicalement baroque et fascinante du rythme. C'est que Plush relie entre eux des savoir-faire apparemment disparates dans nos cultures: le dee-jayisme y rencontre la pulsation core du jazz le plus ouvert, le sample devient un instrument chaud et vivant, le mix un travail d'orfèvre moderniste. Nul doute que Plush ouvre largement la voie à un univers profondément créatif et si la gamme et le rythme s'en trouvent bousculés, c'est à des travaux d'une grande ingéniosité que nous sommes ici musicalement conviés.
